How precious: Nurses hold cutest costume contest ever in NICU
Happy Halloween!
With all the creepy costumes and frightening films, it is easy to forget that the spooky holiday isn’t all scary.
In fact, there are some absolutely adorable aspects of the “frightening” celebration.
One hospital is determined to prove this by hosting a the cutest Halloween contests
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Advocate Children’s Hospital held a costume contest for 40 of their tiniest patients.
The premature babies ranged from less than a day old to three-months-old.
Deb Skopec, a neonatal nurse at the hospital, told Good Morning America that they decided to do the contest to give the parents a sense of “normalcy” in their lives.
“These parents really don't have any normalcy in their lives and a lot of times they're grieving … it's not what they anticipated when having a baby," she said.
“We like to celebrate the special times in one way or another — to celebrate what Halloween would have been, only we shift it to the NICU."
The babies looks precious dressed up in their little costumes.
The hospital is asking the public to choose a winner by liking your favourite photos on their Facebook page.
The winning family, along with the runner-ups, will receive redeemable gift cards.
Theses neonatal nurses have really gone the extra mile and it is sweet to see how much they care for their pint-sized patients.
