Melting! Ed Sheeran performs bedside concert for super-fan
A little girl who has been referred to as a 'living miracle' by her mother got an early Christmas present this year when Ed Sheeran decided to pay a visit and perform an extra-special concert… just for her.
Perched on the edge of Melody Driscoll's hospital bed, Ed strummed a pink ukelele and gently sang Photograph while super-fan Melody listened intently.
Diagnosed with rare neurological disorder – Rett Syndrome – at birth, Melody spends 80 per cent of her life in hospital and is unable to walk or talk, but understands the world around her.
And as a massive fan of Ed Sheeran – or Prince Charming as Melody's family refer to him – there was no doubting the joy his impromptu performance brought to little Melody.
While having undergone 40 operations over the course of her life, Melody defied the odds and despite doctors' assumptions she wouldn't live more than a few years, she will, in fact, be celebrating her 10th birthday this month.
With Melody's mum, Katrina, having shared the incredibly touching footage on Facebook, the Melody in Mind Facebook page has been inundated with comments from members of the public who have found themselves moved by Melody's bravery.
"What a brave young girl do you have and what an amazing meeting. I hope and pray that it gives you and above all melody strength to go on. Love from Holland," wrote one Facebook user.
This has brought many of us here at Magic Mum HQ to tears this afternoon – what a gorgeous little girl.
