Having a whale of a time: Australian officers get a big surprise
A humpback whale gave two Queensland police officers an unusual experience on a routine shift.
The incredible animal popped up to say a hello and investigated the pair.
Sergeant Mick Jones and Constable Gemma Crowley were out assisting water police by ensuring fishermen were obeying fishing regulations.
The whale then gave them a Sunday they'll never forget.
Lucky enough, the officers were armed with a camera to capture the spectacular moment.
Taking to their Twitter account 'Queensland Police', they shared the amazing treat.

The video shows the humpback circling the boat to the surprise of the police duo.
Understandably, Mick can be heard expressing his amazement by saying: “Wowee. That’s pretty special Gemma.”
The footage also captures the enormous size of the mammal.
June to September are migratory months for whales, which makes them a regular sight in Queensland.
However, what is truly remarkable about this encounter is how close the whale came to the boat.
We are sure the pair won't forget this rare incident.
