Mum-to-be gives man a Decent Dude Award for a special reason
Yvonne Lin, a designer, drawer, baker, kid maker from wondernik.com, is currently eight months pregnant with her second baby – and up until about a week ago thought all men sucked.
Not because of anything they did to her per se, more by what they didn't do for her: give up their subway seat to be exact.
Throughout her first pregnancy, Yvonne was never offered a seat by a man – now that's not to say NO ONE gave up their chair, just NO man did.
And while, yes, pregnancy is not an illness and we are capable of going about our daily lives without too much upheaval, this is not the same for everyone.
In fact, for some mums-to-be, standing for long periods of time can be a real struggle. And being offered a seat can quite literally change their journey from being a horrendous experience to being something a little more enjoyable.
So, after her experience with pregnancy number one, Yvonne decided to do a bit of a social experiment, and made a Decent Dude Award – to give to the first guy who gave up his seat.
"I'm about 8ish months preggers (again) and I look it. I've been gradually coming to the conclusion that men suck," she wrote on Instagram.
"I didn't get a single subway seat offered to me by a man throughout my first pregnancy. So for the second pregnancy, I had this made and I've been carrying it around everyday – till last Friday. This guy is the winner."
It may have taken until her "8ish" month… but Yvonne FINALLY managed to give her award to this guy – and he looks delighted!
She shared her story on Instagram where it has received nothing but a positive response:
"What a great way to thank him and what a sweet man," wrote one.
Another said: "Just a beautiful story made my day to see there is still human kindness."
