Mum tracks down waitress who calmed her screaming toddler
They don’t call them the terrible twos for nothing, as Bonnie Beck knows only too well.
Following a walk with her two-year-old son Roman, the 30-year-old decided to grab dinner at family friendly Beekeeper restaurant in Beeston.
Hungry and tired Roman had no intention of sitting still or eating his food – and instead decided to rally around the restaurant causing his mother great distress.
Luckily for the mother-of-one, a hero in the form of restaurant waitress Kelly Niblett was there to lend a helping hand.
The 31-year-old mother of two asked Roman if he could help to fold napkins, and set about instructing him in his task.
His relieved mother told the Nottingham Post, "He loves it when people give him attention and he really liked that he was helping. He came over to me and told me what he was doing because he was really proud."
The Giltbrook native took to Facebook to express her gratitude for the help.
Speaking about the episode Bonnie acknowledged the judgments people make when kids “misbehave”.
"She wasn't doing it for any personal gain, she just genuinely cared about the fact that I was looking really stressed."
The waitress was ecstatic when she realised she’d made such a difference to the stressed mother, saying she’d been in her shoes before.
"I've tried everything before and found that kids love helping out. I had my napkins to do so I asked Roman to help because I know my daughter's would've liked doing it.
"I'm so happy just to help and be appreciated. Not everything costs money and it's he best feeling ever every time I see a new comment on the Facebook post."
