Good Samaritan helps rescue two men after they fall through ice on lake
When John Barber woke up on December 30th, we're sure he wasn't expecting to end up rescuing two men who were playing a friendly game of hockey.
Recalling the incident to CBS News, John said that he could hear two men screaming for help from his apartment.
Obviously concerned, he went outside to find two men had fallen through the ice on Lake Quisigamond, Worchester, Boston.
They had been playing a game of hockey when the ice went from under them.
Quick-thinking John, along with a number of neighbours, grabbed kayaks and rope and headed out onto the lake.
They managed to pull the two men on board and, with the help of police and fire fighters, got them to shore.
“They were very cold. They weren’t saying too much," he said.
"I think they were trying to stay warm."
The rescue took all of five minutes and involved the fire department and their scuba team.
Thankfully, the men are said to be doing well.
