Girl brings her 'daddy doll' out for food, but her mum doesn't expect strangers to say THIS
When Brooke Hayes' daughter brought her Daddy Doll out for breakfast one morning, the mum had no idea how much of an affect it would have on OTHER people.
Brooke bought the special doll for her kids to help them stay connected to their father, who serves in the military and can be away for weeks and even months on end.
However, what she didn't expect was for it to help her family connect with strangers as well.
Taking to the Love What Matters Facebook page, Brooke explained how she had brought her kids out for breakfast when a couple came up to them while they were eating.
"This morning I took my kids out for breakfast, and my youngest daughter brought along her Daddy Doll," the mum wrote.
"She likes to bring it along on our adventures as a family. She will pretend to feed it, talk to it, and act like he is with us until we are reunited as a family again.
"This morning, strangers came up to our table after seeing the doll and thanked us for our service as a family, and some told us about the days when they served in the military."
Adding that this was not the first time people they didn't know had come up to them asking about the doll, Brooked continued: "A few times strangers have cried after seeing the Daddy Doll and once someone told my son to take care of his family until his daddy comes home."
"Men and women leave their families for weeks, months, or a year and many people will never know what that is like," she said.
"When we got the Daddy Doll I thought it would be a good way to connect our little ones to their father but in a way it has connected us to strangers too."
The Daddy Doll is such a beautiful way for families to stay connected to those who serve their country.
