Girl, 9, writes heartbreaking list, and then something incredible happens
When Pastor DeAndre asked kids in his after-school programme to write a list of what's on their mind, he was not expecting one young girl's note to shock him so much.
In fact, when the Lifeline to Success founder read the Jada Gray's list, he was spurred to take action, and took to Facebook to share his concern.
"This is what one of the girls in our after school program wrote. Notice that number 2 (not getting shot) is higher than number 3 (getting an education)," the Pastor wrote on the social media page.
"I feel like I'm failing and this work is taking its toll and those with resources choose other ways to 'invest' in our community. My frustration is real. My pain is real. Her fear is real. Where is the REAL help! Share this dammit!"
"Children are scarred by the things that they see. It just can't continue that way," Brown told News Channel 3.
"In a situation like this, our job is to respond and help. We are not blaming anybody for the conditions. What we want to do is find solutions so those problems no longer exist."
And that is exactly what he is doing.
The team at Lifeline to Success walked Whitney Manor last week, and have plans to clean up the area.
What a great community; we're sure there is someone in your area who deserves a thank you for all their hard work.
