According to a study published by Clinics in Perinatology, babies born by caesarean section are more likely to be obese later in life.

According to this study, which was done in 2011, babies born vaginally achieve contact with the maternal vaginal and intestinal flora, which is "an important source for the infant’s essential bacteria colonisation."

In contrast to this, babies born via C-section are deprived of this environmental bacteria, which can result in some health risks to newborns.

Researchers from Harvard University intend to do further study to determine whether caesarean babies are more likely to become obese.
