GENIUS... Now you can schedule in WiFi-free time at home
No matter how much we may try… it is impossible for us mums to be able to control our kids' internet usage, especially considering so many devices are connected to the home WiFi.
So to celebrate Safer Internet Day (February 7th), iKydz, an internet device that allows parents manage their children’s home internet access from anywhere in the world, is offically being launched.
A small hardware device, it plugs into the WiFi router and allows parents to block, restrict or schedule their kids' access to social media, chat rooms and online game.
Retailing at a flat fee of €99 with no monthly subscription, iKydz is easy to set up and use, with an average set-up time of three minutes.
For the technophobes amongst us, there is even a dedicated customer care line to call should you encounter any difficulties.
And the best thing? iKydz is solely controlled by parents via the app on their phone and the iKydz unit, so tech-savvy teens won't be able to disable it!
Even Baz Ashmawy is a fan, admitting he has used it with his own kids:
"When I dropped the bomb on the six kids that there would be changes afoot in relation to their internet access, I was ready for retaliation (at least from the older ones) but thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting.
"The kids can still use the internet, but like everything else in their lives, there needs to be limits and it is up to me as their dad to set those limits."
iKydz is now available for purchase in HMV Stores, hmv.ie as well as online from the iKydz website.
