Forgotten mum has last laugh when exiting a department store, and she's SO right
A mum-of-two sadly encountered quite a peculiar situation while out shopping recently.
Laura Mazza, went to a make-up store – without her children.
The bliss of having a couple of hours to herself led the mum to the shops, and straight to the make-up department.
These days buying make-up requires time and patience, as you have make-up applied while trying to figure what suits your skin best.
So once the kids were away, Laura decided it was the perfect opportunity to indulge, picking up items which she needed.
"I was greeted by a shop assistant who was so lovely, she let me try on make up, tested it on me, took her time showing me different styles, she gave me samples and really pushed the hard sale on."
"She was lovely so I obliged, however, the make-up I wanted wasn't in stock so she ordered it for me and told me to come back in a week," explained Laura.
Waiting for the week to pass, Laura eventually ventured back to the store, this time though, she had her son in tow.
Luca, her toddler son, was sitting in his stroller, good as gold.
Laura waited 35 minutes trying to get the assistant's attention, the same girl she had been dealing with alongside two other sales people.
"I stood there like an idiot and I watched each of those staff members ignore me. I watched a whole bunch of customers come in, try on stuff and leave without purchasing anything, she got annoyed each time."
"I stood to the side to not be in the way with my pram, but was given looks like I was a pile of shit that was in the way. I don't like to be impolite but I was getting annoyed."
Laura decided it was time to speak up; explaining why she was there, and how she had ordered make-up the previous week and she was there to pay, but she wasn't expecting what was about to take place.
The assistant never said a word to Laura, stepping over her pram when there was no need and walked directly to her folders, speaking with her colleagues.
"[She] said to her colleague thinking I couldn't hear 'I thought she was one of those mums just wanting to try stuff and not buy anything'," commented the mum-of-two.
Laura mulled over the exchange and done the best thing she could in the situation she was faced with; she turned her stroller and went to the next make-up stand.
Immediately, the assistant acknowledged the mum's son sitting quietly in his stroller, asking for his name, and Laura knew she made the right decision.
"I basically fanned cash onto her and bought shit I didn't even need, like eyeshadow primer. I thanked her for acknowledging me as a person even though I had a pram, and acknowledging my son as a person who was so pleasantly behaved and didn't warrant being treated like 'in the way furniture'."
"I walked past the other store, which was empty, where all three girls were staring out at customers walking by. I held up my bag as I strolled past with my pram, smiling, […] big mistake."
We wee delighted to see that Laura stood up for herslef in the best way she possibly could – however we were shocked by the comments under mum's post which suggests this behaviour happens all too often.
Make sure and learn something from Laura mums, there will always be someone who will treat you right no matter where you are.
