Feed a crowd with this delicious chocolate WAFFLE cake
Light and fluffy, this cake will go down a treat with everyone.
Ingredients
For the waffles
- 470g flour
- 30g cacao powder
- 750ml milk
- 150g butter, melted
- 6 eggs, separated
- 50g sugar
For filling and topping
- 750ml cream
- 100g icing sugar
- 300g fresh strawberries, diced
- Chocolate chips to taste
Method
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar and egg yolks. Add about ¼ of the flour and the cacao powder, mix with a whip, then add a bit of milk.
2. Alternate between flour and milk until both are entirely combined with the main mixture.
3. Whip the egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Slowly combine with the main mixture, proceeding very gently not to break the whites.
4. Preheat the waffle maker and spray with oil. Pour some batter into the waffle maker and cook for 4 minutes. Repeat until the batter is used up and set aside to cool completely.
5. In a large mixing bowl, whip the fresh cream and gradually add the icing sugar.
6. Start building the cake: alternate a layer of waffle and a layer of whipped cream.
7. On the top layer, spread the strawberries and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
