Family's precious pet dog Polo labelled a hero following house fire

A Maryland woman is forever grateful to her pet dog Polo.

Polo died a hero when a fire destroyed the home of Erika Poremski and her daughter Viviana in Baltimore.

The young mother had stepped out of the home to pick up something in her car, when she turned around to see her home engulfed in flames.

Polo, who Erika described as “my first baby”, was inside the house at the time, and saved baby Viv’s life.

He lay over the young child to protect her as the fire spread throughout the home, saving the tot from being burned all over her body.

Since the fire, Erika has been released from hospital; however Viv continues to be treated.

Sara, a friend of Erika’s set up a GoFundMe page along with help from Erika’s dad Joe to help the girls rebuild their life and cover Viv's medical bills.
