'Excruciating' court appearance for late actor's children and widow
It has been an incredibly difficult time already for everyone involved, but relations between the family of late actor Robin Williams and his widow, Susan Schneider, don’t appear to be any less strained.
Just months after it was reported that Schneider was locked in a legal battle with Williams’ three children – Zak, Zelda and Cody – it has emerged that the parties underwent an “excruciating” court appearance in a bid to settle the late actor’s estate.
During a formal appearance at San Francisco Superior Court this week, both parties agreed to private mediation and to meet informally in the coming weeks, to arrange the pick-up of certain items of Williams that Schneider reportedly took from their home in the days following the actor’s death.
While Schneider is reported to have previously expressed her desire to keep the suit Williams wore to their wedding, as well as photos from his 60th birthday, Williams’ children insist that their father’s will clearly granted them his clothing, jewellery and personal photos.
After Schneider removed several items from their home, Williams’ children objected, claiming that she was attempting to interfere with their father’s final wishes.
It is reported that the parties have been given until April 10th to resolve the issue outside of the court, with sources claiming that the Williams children are keen to keep their personal lives out of the spotlight.
Zak, Zelda and Cody are said to be “devastated” by the turn of events, with a source claiming that Williams himself would be devastated by the dispute.
