Dublin Zoo announce arrival of baby elephant, and she is a cutie
If this doesn't make your day we don't know what will.
Herd matriarch and proud mum Bernhardine (Dina) gave birth to her third calf on Monday, 13th March, after a 22-month gestation period (and we think nine months is bad!).
The newborn will join the herd of nine Asian elephants, including father Upali, in the Kaziranga Forest Trail.
Just look at him:
So tiny…
Peek-a-boo!
At the moment there is no name for the latest arrival, who is the fifth elephant calf born at Dublin Zoo in less than three years.
“We are delighted with the new arrival and happy to report that both mum and calf are doing great.," Gerry Creighton, Operations Manager at Dublin Zoo said,
"The calf is feeding exceptionally well and has settled into her surroundings seamlessly."
The latest arrival is already settling in on the Kaziranga Forest Trail at Dublin Zoo, so why not had along this weekend?
