Dog gets braces! This is the 'before' shot...you HAVE to see the ‘after'
Most of us would be smiling before we got braces, and frowning after.
But this puppy did the opposite, breaking into a grin as soon as he got the shiny train tracks fitted!
That’s because they’re actually helping him, though.
The little Golden Retriever joined Molly Moore’s family in Spring Lake, Michigan last summer. Molly works with her dad Jim Moore, who specialises in veterinary dental solutions at his animal hospital.
This came in handy for little Wesley, as he started experiencing some difficulties with his teeth as he grew older.
“Once his adult teeth started coming out, we noticed they were coming in wrong and he was unable to close his mouth fully,” Molly told Buzzfeed, adding: “He wasn’t playing with his toys and he was losing weight.”
As his teeth were causing him pain, Jim decided to fit him with dog braces. He only fits about four dog braces a year, so it’s an unusual enough procedure, but it will help Wesley to have a pain-free smile.
Little Wesley was put under anesthetic while the wire and braces were fixed to his teeth. Pictures of Wesley with his fixed brace were posted on the hospital’s Facebook page and have since been shared over 270,000 times.
“He’s just so cute with them on,” Molly said. “I feel like that’s what I looked like when I got braces at 12.”
And the pup won’t have long to wait to see his new smile – he only has to wear the brace for a few weeks.
