Doctor delivers twins, just hours after giving birth herself
If you ever needed proof that mums are the unsung heroes of this world then you've come to the right place.
Doctor Hilary Conway, and obstetrician from Washington, stepped in to deliver her patient's twins- just hours after giving birth herself.
On the 12th of December, Conway was resting in her bed after giving birth to her second child, when she received a text from her patient Katie Moss.
Moss was due to deliver twins, and Conway had been monitoring her closely throughout the pregnancy.
Conway did not see the text until after midnight, and went to the nurses station to see if Moss had checked in.
She had, and she was in the room next door.
Conway feed her newborn, Verna, and left her in the care of staff. She then prepped to deliver Moss's babies.
Speaking to People, Conway said that she never passes up a chance to be present at one of her patient's delivery:
“I was very saddened to think I might not be there to deliver her. My due date was one month prior to hers.
At our last clinic visit before my scheduled induction of labour on December 12th, we both expressed sadness that I would likely not be there for the delivery.”
She was delighted to have been part of the birth:
“It was awesome to be there for the delivery, it’s always a bummer to miss them. Being a healthcare provider is such a huge privilege. Patients trust us with so much, and in OB-GYN, this is magnified.
I was beyond thrilled for the privilege of being there.”
The Moss twins arrived early the next morning, just 14 hours after Conway had given birth.
As for little Verna, Conway said she is a healthy and happy baby.
If that's not dedication, we don't know what is!
