Daughter dancing with her mum on wedding day is a picture of shared grief

Your wedding day is spent celebrating with your nearest and dearest.

You share your joy and celebrate the love that binds you together, however, it's not just those that are present that keep you linked.

In the happiest moments of our lives, we can also posses a sense of grief.

And a bride who posted her story to Love What Matters, has epitomised that feeling for those who may not understand.

"This is my mum and me dancing on my wedding day. This is what grief looks like. Grief hijacks the happiest moments of your life and leaves you vulnerable."

"Grief is messy and complicated. Grief is painful and unless you have lost a person of significance it's difficult to understand how someone can go from joyful to sad in less than 60 seconds."

Sharing a picture of herself and her mum dancing on the happiest day of her life, the bride also confesses they were quietly crying because they missed her dad.

"My mother is the definition of bravery and courage. She took care of my father throughout his illness and now takes care of her family in his absence."

"My mother has held my hand through it all, and I hold hers."

In the picture we can see the wedding guests dance around the mother-daughter pair, probably not even realising the shared moment which bonded the two together, like they were the only people in the room.

"Grief never goes away we simply evolve."

And to make sure it is never forgotten, this bride asks: "My friends, I ask you to mention our loved ones, hug us and know that our hearts will never fully recover. Less judging and more loving."

We're in tears.
