Dad’s incredible campaign raises $23K in six days (and now everyone wants to do the same)
This is quite simply amazing!
We all know that kids are expensive, and some parents can be left struggling to even pay for basics, like food.
In America, the majority of schools supply lunches to their pupils on campus – but not all of them are free or reduced in price.
And while some parents have no difficulty paying for them, others can be left with large invoices from the school district to pay the debt.
But one dad in Seattle wants to change this.
Jeff Lew, wants all kids to be able to avail of food at school and started his 'erase Seattle school lunch debt'.
"It is an awful thing and it should not be happening. Children need to eat regardless if they have money or not," he explained on his GoFundMe page.
"As a parent and graduate of the Seattle Public Schools, I am trying to help ease the burden of these families and make sure these children get to eat a nutritious meal each day at school.
"I used to look forward to school lunches each day. I am sure these children feel the same!"
So far, Jeff has raised an incredible $23,000 (€21,000) beating his goal of $21,000 (€19,000) in just SIX days.
And school districts outside of Seattle are starting to follow in his footsteps.
In fact, campaigns have already begun in two schools in Washington, and we're sure there will be plenty more to follow suit.
