Dad states he is not his kids' ‘babysitter or playmate’ in thought-provoking post

Jeremy Martin-Weber has posted a message online, and it’s something society as a whole should take note of.

The dad-of-six took to ‘Beyond Moi’ to explain his thoughts on his wife heading out of state on a business trip for several days.

And we are in complete agreement with Jeremy on this one.

Jeremy explains at the very beginning that his wife Jessica is just about to board the plane for her trip, but he has a couple of things to figure out now that she’s leaving.

So Dad poses a serious of questions to the world:

“Who will cook and feed my children, get them to school on time, pick out clothes for our youngest to wear, hug them when they need a hug, and kiss their bruises, and tend to their scrapes?”

“Who will comfort them with their nightmares and help them go back to sleep, listen to every little detail they want to share about their day, read them a story, support and encourage my teenage daughters with their feminine "problems," and their relationship struggles?”

“Who will model kindness, love, patience, listening, empathy, strength, bravery, and all the good things to them? he added.”

But Jeremy answers his own questions, simply stating: “Me. That's who.”

“Because I'm not the babysitter. I'm not just their playmate.”

In a world that applauds men for taking care of their children, it’s refreshing to see a dad speak out on the issue, stating the obvious:

“I'm their dad. And looking after them and guiding them and caring for them is my responsibility.”

Jeremy believes he does not need special recognition or praise, as he reveals: “I'm just doing what every parent should do, and what mums do every day without praise or adoration.”

What do you think of Jeremy’s message?

Do you think we live in a society that praises fathers for looking after their own children? Or do you believe we should praise dads more often?
