Dad claims a 'smart sock' saved his baby's life following scary ordeal
Ryan Nicholas Golinski and his fiance Kate had the scariest night of their lives, but they have a 'smart sock' to thank for the positive outcome.
The couple's month old son was asleep when the 'smart sock' began to sound an alarm.
The sock is attachable to a baby's foot while Baby is sleeping.
It then sends an alarm to a parent's phone if their child's heartbeat or oxygen levels rise or drop at a rapid pace.
The Owlet sock costs in the region of $300, but today Ryan and his partner are extremely happy with the investment as Ryan credits the sock for saving their one-month-old tot's life.
When they put the baby to sleep, the alarm had begun to send out a signal, but their bundle of joy seemed perfect so Ryan and Kate thought they should reset the gadget.
Ryan explained: "The sock started alarming us something was wrong, which we thought was a false alarm because it said his heart rate was reading 286."
"But three resets later and it was still reading extremely high for an infant. We spent the last 24+ hours at the hospital for something called SVT, and we caught it before there were any side effects."
SVT is more commonly known as Supraventricular Tachycardia, which occurs when the heart beats too fast and is caused by faulty electrical signals in the heart.
"Everything is going well now and his heart is still extremely healthy, if we didn't catch it as early as we did with that sock, his heart wouldn't have been able to handle it and we could be dealing with something a lot more serious."
"I highly recommend new parents invest into this sock, its well worth the money," added the shocked dad.
We're so glad to hear that their precious little one is doing well – we might have to look into the smart sock too, always better to be on the safe side.
