Dad can’t hear kids yelling from across the car park, so a stranger steps up to help
This is such a feel-good story.
Four-year-old Riley and her younger brother Austin, two, were saying goodbye to their father, Josh Buetow, who was leaving on his first deployment.
The kids were with their mother, Brettany, at the time, and as the ship moved off they tried their hardest to yell loud enough so their dad could hear them.
However, as the car park they were in was full of people waving off the USS Carl Vinson, their voices were simply being drowned out.
And this is where Officer James Weaver stepped up.
Realising that the brother and sister were struggling, James, who has kids the same age, decided to help, so he called them over to his car.
“As I was sitting there, I saw the family over here and the two little kids were by the rocks over here screaming to dad yelling bye," he told NBC7.
"I figured that he couldn’t hear them cause I could barely hear them from across the parking lot.”
So in a bid to help them be heard, he gave them his microphone to shout into so that Josh could hear his children!
What a wonderful gesture.
