Cook with the kids: the best ever homemade pizza
Seriously, who doesn't like pizza? When you make it from scratch and keep the toppings simple, it can be a perfectly healthy dinner option.
You can make the dough with the children and let them choose what they want on their pizza – they will certainly have loads of fun, and so will you.
Ingredients
Base for 4 small pizzas
- 500g strong white flour
- 325ml lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 sachet dried yeast – 7g
Topping for each pizza
- 50g passata
- 1 small fresh mozzarella
- ¼ tsp oregano
- Drizzle of olive oil
Optional
- Red onions
- Mushrooms
- Peppers
- Parmesan
- Rocket
- etc…
Method
1. Mix the yeast with the water and let sit for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, combine flour with salt. Add the water to the flour and start mixing with a spoon. When the dough starts coming together, turn onto a floured surface and knead for 6 to 8 minutes. Place in a bowl covered with a damp cloth and let rise for about 2 to 3 hours.
2. Cut into 3 or 4 equal-sized balls of dough and let rise for another 30 minutes.
3. Heat the oven to 250°C or as hot as your oven can go. Place a baking tray upside down in the middle of your oven. Flatten one ball of dough, place on baking paper and give it a round shape. Spread the passata, chunks of mozzarella and other desired toppings. Transfer the baking paper onto the hot baking tray and cook for about 10 minutes. Enjoy!
