Community rallys around mum who was threatened over autistic daughter
A Miami mum has been left shaken and angry after a note was left on her doorstep telling her to move out- because her daughter is autistic.
The letter, which has since gone gone viral on Facebook, has left many shocked and appalled at the discriminatory nature of the letter.
Other parents are now rallying around the targeted mum and the condo complex where she lives has been denying involvement with the letter.
The mum initially posted the letter in a private school group but was since shared with permission. With hundreds expressing their horror at the cruel message.
"Your daughter has major issues," the letter reads. "Your daughter cannot be socialised with others."
The letter continues to say that the girl is "large framed and hefty" and disturbs the neighbours by jumping up and down and screaming.
Perhaps the most sickening of all, the writer of the letter shows no regard or understanding for the girl's special needs.
"We are not responsible for your daughter's diagnosis. And you have no right to burden us with her diagnosis. We urge you to do the right thing and find another living situation as soon as possbile."
Parents have been rallying around the mum who received the letter, even suggesting that she should sue the sender.
Speaking to local media, the family said that they now feel "extremely unwelcome".
According to that same report, the owners and mangers of the building have denied all involvement with the letter, since condemned the letter and identified the sender.
We can only hope that the sender learns some sensitivity and empathy.
