Celebrate your little one with these super cute baby shower themes

Having a baby shower is such a sentimental event before welcoming your bundle of joy into the world. Being surrounded by loved ones while chatting about all things baby-related is a really special time for a mum-to-be.

When organising a baby shower, one of the most exciting decisions to make is choosing the theme for the big day.

If you’re planning your baby shower but aren’t sure on a theme just yet, we’ve shared some of our favourite ideas below to help inspire you to make the important decision.

Pastels

A classic baby shower theme and great if you don’t know the gender of your little one. Pastel greens, yellows, pinks and blues throughout the decor will give a soft and calming feel. You could even ask guests to wear pastel colours so photos will look co-ordinated when you look back on them.

Cuddly bear

Incorporating bears has been a hugely popular baby shower theme in recent times. Having giant cuddly teddies to decorate and sweet teddy bears on the cake and invites is a great way to tie in the theme. You could decide to have an afternoon tea-style spread of food to make it more of a teddy bear’s picnic theme. Former The Only Way is Essex star Jess Wright had a lovely bear-themed party before her son was born.

Sweet dreams

Opt for a dreamy baby shower theme with clouds, stars and moons used for decorations. Rest and relaxation will be prominent at this baby shower to promote a delicate ambiance. Use fairy lights to decorate and fluffy cushions to bring the theme together.

Disney lover

If you’re into Disney or hope to raise a child that is, sticking to a Disney theme for your baby shower is a great way to start. Choose the classic Mickey and Minnie Mouse for decorations and cake toppers, or opt for you and your partner’s favourite Disney films to use an inspiration to decorate your baby shower location. You can play music from Disney movies in the background too! Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara's Winnie the Pooh theme was perfect for her love of Disney.

Childhood books

A classic children’s book is a great idea to base your baby shower off of, especially if you're a bookworm. Something like The Gruffalo is a great way to incorporate a child-like vibe before your little one arrives. Guests can bring their own favourite book from their childhood so your baby will have their own library when they get older.

Pink, pink and more pink

If you know you’re having a girl and want to really lean into a girly theme, go all-out with pink everywhere. From a pink dress code for guests to pink balloons and flowers throughout the venue, your baby shower will be the pinkest party for your little princess, just like Atomic Kitten band member Natasha Hamilton. After the release of the ever-so-popular Barbie movie, add some elements of the iconic doll for extra girliness.

Sleepover club

Planning on having a cosy girls’ night for your baby shower? Host a sleepover party instead. Get all of your besties to come to your house and wear matching pyjamas. Order your favourite takeaway, play romcoms on the TV and enjoy some facemasks for a lovely night in with your loved ones before your baby arrives.

Cool blues

Much like the pink party in reverse, if you know you’re having a little boy and want to choose a blue theme, you could add elements of sport or take inspiration from the nautical world to add a little something extra. If you're planning on having your baby shower towards the end of the year, why not try a winter wonderland theme with pale blues and whites with plenty of twinkly snowflakes like Selling Sunset star Heather Rae El Moussa.
