Study reveals how many calories our kids make us burn

If you’re a parent, you will know that exercise can drop to the bottom of the priority list. Having a child can mean that your daily gym session is replaced with changing nappies, chasing the kids and cleaning the house.

However, it’s not all bad news for parents looking to lose a few pounds as it turns out being a parent burns 50,000 calories a month.

On average 25 babies are born every minute – that’s more than 13 million in a year. 13 million more tantrums, 13 million more nappy changes and a lot more calories burnt!

Not convinced? A new report by Wren Kitchens reveals how many calories you’ll burn doing daily parenting activities. The more chores you do, the more you may notice the pounds melt away

Please note: the calorie counts are based on the average weight of a person in Europe, 156 pounds. If you weigh more, you’ll burn more. If you weigh less, you’ll burn less.

The study of 1,000 respondents revealed that on the average day your little bundle of joy will help you burn 1,478 calories which equates to doing 1,179 burpees,  a win-win situation as you can spend less time feeling guilty about not going to the gym and more time at home attending to your household and children.

A full list of daily activities can be seen below:

As well as the daily activities there is the joy of participating in parental tasks that take place once a week, however, fear not, another 2,374 extra calories are burnt (which equates to doing 2,029 burpees on a weekly basis!)
