Busy? This mum was given the kind of reality check WE all need
Being a mum is extremely difficult.
From trying to tick things off a never-ending task list to making sure our kids are happy and healthy – AND dealing with the pressures to be perfect – it's no surprise we're all at the end of our tether.
Something that blogger Constance Hall knows about all too well.
Taking to her Facebook page, the mum-of-three wrote how one little experiment to see how our busy lives are affecting our kids, gave her a reality check that we could all do with.
"Yesterday in a seminar we did an experiment, we partnered up and told a story, half way through the story our partners were ordered to stop listening," she wrote.
"They looked away, yawned, preoccupied their minds, replied to an email while we were telling them something we believed interesting.
"And guess how it made me feel? Boring, embarrassed for not being able to interest anyone, unworthy and insignificant.
"Is that what this busy life is making my kids feel?"
However, that one seminar made her look at life with clearer eyes, and Constance "woke up with a desire to take a deep breath and let it all go."
Adding how it took her feeling "unworthy" to realise just how much outside pressures can impact on her role as a mum, she wrote:
"I really care about my time with my kids and how they feel about themselves.
"And I'm not going to let outside pressures and "Super mum" ideals take that away from me."
