Brave mum's post about her son's terminal illness is heartbreaking
Dublin make-up blogger Yavanna Keogh took to her social media channels recently, to share a truly heartbreaking post regarding her family.
Yavanna, who blogs at makeupmonster.ie, revealed that her three-year-old son, Oscar, was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma – a rare, inoperable brain tumour.
Sadly, there is only a 1% chance of survival and nearly all children diagnosed will die within 18 months.
Oscar has the most aggressive type of tumour and experimental treatment is not an option; radiation is the only thing that works.
In a bid to help him enjoy his life for however long he has, Yavanna set up a GoFundMe page which, in just one day, has gone way above it's €10,000 target – hitting the €29,000 mark in just 24 hours.
"We have started this GoFundMe page simply to give our son the time of his life for however long that is," the mum-of-one wrote on the fundraising page.
"Trips away and days out and ice creams and toys and anything else that will help bring a little magic and joy to him.
"We will also be donating money from it to cancer research and charities in Ireland.
"We aren’t going to ask you to dig deep, if you have something to spare and want to give it we would be hugely grateful, but we would be just as grateful for your hopes and kind thoughts for Oscar."
