Boy shaves hair to look like friend - and sends inspiring message

Introducing Jax, the five-year-old who proves racism and prejudice is taught.

Last week, Jax's mother Lydia Stith Rosebush told her son that it was time to get his "wild" hair cut.

His only request? That it looks like his friend Reddy's hair: shaved.

The catch… Jax is white and Reddy is black. "He said that he wanted his head shaved really short so he could look like his friend Reddy," Lydia wrote on Facebook.

"He said he couldn't wait to go to school on Monday with his hair like Reddy's so that his teacher wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

"He thought it would be so hilarious to confuse his teacher with the same haircut."

And while it's fairly obvious that the teacher won't have any trouble differentiating them, Jax's request proves that kids don't see different skin colours but rather the person.

"Here's a picture of Jax and Reddy from their Christmas program. I'm sure you all see the resemblance," his mum jokingly wrote.

"If this isn't proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught I don't know what is. The only difference Jax sees in the two of them is their hair."

Not surprisingly, the inspirational post went viral with many people quick to praise the youngster.

"What an amazing little boy and a wonderful story.. if only everyone on the world could take a leaf from this little stars book and see people through his eyes," wrote one.

While another said: "They really do look a whole lot alike. Absolutely beautiful story and beautiful kids."
