Beautiful! The story of this lost ring will restore your faith in humanity
When mum-to-be Elizabeth Docherty lost her wedding ring while travelling across the desert in June of this year, we're pretty sure she never thought she'd see it again.
And considering she lost it on the world’s longest parallel sand dunes… well, the chances of ever finding it again are slim to none.
But thanks to the power of strangers anything is possible.
Elizabeth and her husband had travelled to Simpson Desert, Australia, for their babymoon – they are due their first child next month.
However, because of her pregnancy, Elizabeth's fingers have been swelling up and down, and she only noticed her ring was gone when she took a photo.
But thanks to Liz Dean and her husband, who spotted the ring, Elizabeth will be reunited to it shortly.
ABC Western Queensland posted a police image of the ring on their Facebook page; here it was shared more than 5,000 times, including by Elizabeth's sister-in-law, who contacted the expectant mum to have a look at the post.
"Talk about finding a needle in a… desert!" the Facebook post read.
"Travellers have located a ring in the Simpson Desert – the world's longest parallel sand dunes!
"The #Birdsville Police are keen to track the owner down, so let's help them out and SHARE THIS POST."
100 percent positive that the ring is hers, Elizabeth left a comment underneath the post with a picture of her wearing the ring.
"Thank you so much I have contacted them this afternoon," she wrote.
"I have photos and I know the beautiful words my husband had engraved in the band.
"I am speechless at the kindness of whoever handed this in and I am in tears it has been found I am so so lucky thank you [sic]."
Oh, and all this happened in eight hours, according to News.com!
Amazing!
