Baby cutting their first teeth? Here’s everything you need to know about teething
Just like everything else, teething is one of those things that we all have to deal with – but that doesn’t make it any easier for us mums watching our little infants suffer.
Teething generally starts around the six-month mark and rarely causes real problems, but even irritated gums can affect your baby significantly.
And the majority of children will experience one, if not all, of the following symptoms:
- Swollen and sensitive gums
- Refusal to eat
- Nappy rash
- Drooling
- Fussiness
- Restlessness
- A need to bite things
So what can you do to help your child feel better?
Thankfully, there are plenty of things you can do to help ease the pain and discomfort of teething.
- Give them a cold/ frozen teething toy to chew on
- Or, for older children, a slice of toast that they can munch down on can also help
- Alternatively, rub a clean finger along their gum to help ease any pressure
- A teething gel like CaldeBaby Teething Gel cools and soothes irritated gums and provides gentle relief. Simply massage your child’s gums two to three times a day after meals and before sleeping.
Remember, always be cautious that anything you do give them to chew on is not a choking hazard.
