Angry parents want to close a public path through a school
Newport Public School in Sydney has a public footpath running through its grounds.
Naturally, this path has been a cause for concern to parents for years, but finally they are taking a stand.
A recent incident has raised concern, and the school is now feeling pressure from parents to close the path for public use.
Two weeks ago a man was found alone on the path with two six-year-old school girls, under suspicious circumstances.
Parents are campaigning that a fence be put up, in order to keep the students of the primary school safe.
Despite the red flags, some people are insisting that the path is safe, and there is no need for action.
“It’s a safe neighbourhood. Safe school. No problem,” one dad said to 7 News.
What do you think mums? Should the school put up a fence?
