And breathe... 4 one-minute ways to de-stress when you're busy
Motherhood is exhausting: If you’re not juggling work, you’re driving children to school, standing on match sidelines, making lunch, prepping dinner, washing clothes… phew.
Yup, being a mum is exhausting and stressful. However, because our schedules are so jam-packed there is very little time to de-stress.
Not any more though.
We've come up with eight one-minute ways to help you relax, that you can even do while waiting for the kettle to boil.
1. Breathe
Breathe in, hold for four seconds and breathe out. As you exhale, focus your mind on the feeling of letting go.
2. Pop in the earphones
If you're at your desk in work, turn on your favourite song on YouTube and pop in your earphones; if you're at home, just blast it around the house and start busting a move – a 60 second hip-shake will do wonders for your mental state.
3. Make a cup of herbal tea
Switch the kettle on and make yourself a nice cup of herbal or have a pre-prepared cup in a travel mug with you at all times! According to Eric Yarnell, a professor of botanical medicine at Bastyr University, teas like skullcap, chamomile or passionflower are all great stress relievers.
4. Scream
And we don't mean an internal "ahhh"… Fill your lungs up, push your shoulders back and just let it all out. The relief will be instant.
