A robotic babysitter? Kuri is your home's mechanical 'best friend'

We're still struggling to get our heads around the vacuum cleaners which tend to the dusty floors of our home without anyone having to lift a finger, so it's no surprise we're a little stunned by the notion that by Christmas 2017 a family can own a robot which will have the ability to communicate with family members.

Kuri, a robot developed by Mayfield Robotics, was unveiled at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, and is programmed to monitor your home while interacting with you and your children.

According to Vocativ, Kuri, which costs a cool $699, is able to program reminders, play music and even read your children bedtime stories while simultaneously familiarising itself with the nooks and crannies of your home in addition to the personal belongings of family members.

And if that wasn't enough, the 20-inch robot can check up on your pets and with the help of its in-built HD camera and microphones will allow you to reprimand your pooch from afar.

Unsurprisingly, the invention has raised eyebrows among some members of the public who have questioned whether Kuri can be hacked or exploited.

Acknowledging concerns posed by the public, the company have assured potential customers that the information of an individual under the age of 13 is not stored or track, and will be deleted if inadvertently collected.

The future is (apparently) here, ladies.
