Star takes to Facebook to blast journalist over criticism of newborn's name

They welcomed their first child together just last week, and eyebrows were certainly raised when it emerged that Lara Bingle and Sam Worthington had named their son Rocket Zot Worthington.

Despite being incredibly private regarding her pregnancy and the birth of her child however, model Lara felt compelled to publicly address criticism of her little one’s name.

Lara shared a link to an article by The Daily Telegraph entitled ‘Lara Bingle doesn’t care a zot for baby name traditions’, in which the author criticised the couple’s choice of name.

The new mum hit back at the publication’s insulting article, writing: “This quote taken from a balderdash article in The Daily Telgraph Australia, April 4, 2015 – is very embarrassing. My son’s middle name IS a respectful nod to my late father, whose nickname was affectionately, Zot.”

“I wish Australian journalism, and in particular The Daily Telegraph, would rethink employing people who have some respect, and integrity, who either fact check or not comment – rather than just print the juvenile, spurious ramblings of some pseudo journalist called Annette Sharp,” she added.

Needless to say, the majority of people have come out in support of Lara’s statement, criticising both the journalist who penned the article, and the publication, for printing such an “unkind” article.

As we always say, each to their own; each child is uniquely special, and every name is a reflection of that.
