Singer charged with assault after hitting her daughter
It has been a morning of dramatic stories, and unfortunately, we have yet another one to share now.
According to reports, singer Angie Stone has been charged with aggravated assault after hitting her 30-year-old daughter in the face with a metal stand during an altercation on Monday.
It is believed that Stone, who has sold over five million albums worldwide, and her daughter Diamond got into a physical fight following an argument over Diamond’s children, with Angie claiming that she reacted in self-defence.
The report from DeKalb County Police claims that Diamond lost a number of teeth in the altercation with her mother.
Stone allegedly told police that she didn’t realise she had struck her daughter with the metal stand and “once she realised this she quickly put the stand down and attempted to get away” from her.
Both women were taken into custody for questioning following the incident, with Diamond released and 53-year-old Stone booked on a charge of domestic aggravated assault.
Diamond is Stone’s daughter with her ex-husband, Rodney Stone, from the hip-hop group Funky Four Plus One.
We will keep you updated on the case as it progresses.
