Singer opens up on eight-month-old daughter’s terrifying health scare
Even the slightest cough or runny nose can set off our built-in alarm systems, and when there is something wrong with our little ones, it is the most terrifying experience to go through.
We can’t even imagine how horrific an experience it was for Blue singer Antony Costa and his fiancée, Rosanna Jasmin, then, when their eight-month-old daughter Savannah suffered a fit in front of them last week.
Recounting the frightening incident in the Mirror, the 33-year-old admits that he and his partner feared for the worst.
The incident occurred when Antony and Rosanna were paying a visit to their wedding venue, along with their “princess” Savannah. While she had been suffering from a bit of a cold, Antony admits that she seemed fine on the day.
However, when Savannah’s head tilted and her eyes began rolling back in her head, the parents knew something was wrong. When she began shaking and her lips turned blue, they desperately called for help.
Thankfully, the couple were able to recall some first aid techniques, and a nearby doctor was able to help as Antony and Rosanna awaited an ambulance’s arrival.
Recalling the terrifying moment, Antony wrote: “It was horrible seeing her like that – normally she’s so peaceful when she sleeps, but her breathing was heavy and we were so worried…We felt helpless, but the hospital staff were all lovely. They took Savannah from us and all we could do was look on in hope.”
It has emerged that Savannah had a virus which had caused her temperature to shoot up and thrown her into a fit called a febrile convulsion.
Thankfully, little Savannah has recovered from the shocking experience, but the incident left Antony compelled to speak out about the importance of first aid courses for parents.
“I wanted to talk about this because I think every parent should go on a first aid course, so everyone knows what to do if they are faced with an emergency,” he said.
We are so relieved to hear that Antony’s little girl is alright.
