77 per cent? This issue is limiting the growth of Irish families

It’s highly likely your parents hailed from a big family, and it’s equally likely you did yourself, but can you say the same for your own children?

Nowadays, a family with four children is considered a 'big family', and many of us decide our family is complete a lot sooner than our parents and grandparents would have.

But it seems like the tide may be turning on this one.

As part of their Kids Go Free offer, laya healthcare established that while 77 per cent of Irish parents would happily welcome another child into their life, 31 per cent decide against it on financial and economic grounds.

Bucking the trend, however, one in ten revealed they are planning to add to their brood over the next 12 months.

The research, which harnessed the opinions of 1,000 people, established that while big families are preferable among many Irish parents, the financial implications have led many to reconsider their inclinations and complete their family sooner than they might have liked.

With that in mind, it’s perhaps no surprise that larger families employ simple tips and tricks to keep within their budget every month.

“It’s clear that Irish mums and dads are smart operators when it comes to employing clever family hacks that help make life easier and more affordable," said Lorraine Walsh, Laya’s Head of Marketing.

From holidaying in Ireland to bathing children together, families with four or more children are at the top of their game when it comes to money-saving hacks.

We tip our hats to you, guys!
