7 festive mocktails perfect for mamas-to-be this Christmas
The festive season can be a tricky time when you are pregnant: raw cheese and charcuterie platters, undercooked meat, shellfish or Christmas puddings are off the menu. Of course, same goes for eggnog, mulled wine or champagne…
But it doesn't mean that you have to miss on all the festive cheer!
To save you from drinking tea and water all night and get you in a merry Christmas mood, we have some tasty mocktail recipes you will love!
1. Tutti frutti
Ingredients
- 12cl limonade
- 10cl orange juice
- 10cl pineapple juice
- 8cl honey
- 1/2 apple, diced
- 1/2 pear, diced
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- 1/2 pineapple, diced
Directions
Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and let macerate in the fridge overnight. Serve cold!
2. Rose lemonade
Ingredients
- 1 lime
- 1 lemon
- 1 cup raspberry juice
- 1 cup grapefruit juice
- 1 tbsp rose syrup
- 1 cup lemonade
- ice cubes
Directions
Squeeze the lime and lemon in a mixing bowl and add the raspberry juice, grapefruit juice and rose syrup. Combine and refrigerate.
Before serving, add the lemonade and ice cubes. Mix and enjoy!
3. Citrus punch
Ingredients
- 15cl orange juice
- 9cl lemon juice
- 3 tsp grenadine or strawberry syrup
- Ice cubes
Directions
Place all the ingredients in a shaker and shake!
Serve in chilled glasses with ice cubes.
4. Mulled apple juice
Ingredients
- 750ml apple juice
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 whole cloves
- 3 whole allspice berries
- peel of 1/2 orange, cut into strips
- peel of 1/2 lemon, cut into strips
Directions
Pour the apple juice and maple syrup into a large saucepan. Place the cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice berries, orange peel and lemon peel in a muslin spice bag and place into the juice mixture.
Cook the mixture over a medium heat for about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let infuse for anither 15 minutes.
Remove the spice bag and serve in mugs.
5. Blackberry sunrise
Ingredients
- 150g blackberries
- 100ml orange juice
- 100ml lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- Soda water
Directions
Crush half the blackberries and place in a shaker with the orange juice, lemon juice and cinnamon.
Strain and transfer into a glass. Top with soda water, add fresh blackberries and ice cubes to taste.
6. Tropical breeze
Ingredients
1 banana, sliced
1/2 mango, diced
3 slices pineapple, diced
1 orange, juiced
1 pinch ground ginger
250ml coconut water
Directions
Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and combine well.
Serve in a chilled glass with ice cubes.
7. Choco-lada
Ingredients
- 100ml coconut milk or cream
- 80ml banana juice
- 150ml pineapple juice
- 100ml hot chocolate
- Grated cinnamon
Directions
Place all the ingredients in a shaker and top with ice cubes. Shake for a few seconds.
Strain into a chilled glass and top with grated cinnamon.
