5 Halloween events in Ireland kids (and adults!) will love
Still undecided how you want to spend Halloween with the kids? Perhaps you want to give them a festively ghoulish experience, or maybe you’d like to go all New England and take them to a pumpkin patch to choose their very own festive squash?
Well we’ve got five fantastic, inexpensive options the kids will love (and who are we kidding, us adults will too!).
1. Rathwood’s Halloween Train
Kids will love taking a magical journey on the Rathwood Express in Rathwood, Co. Carlow. The adventure starts when children learn that the Land of Oz is under threat buy the Wicked Witch of the West. Who else? On the journey they will meet Dorothy and her friends they try to defeat the evil witch and save Oz! For their help each child will be rewarded with a steaming mug of hot chocolate.
2. Picking pumpkins at Scalp Wood
3. Scalp Wood’s Nursery in Kilternan, South County Dublin, has its very own pumpkin patch where, for a small charge, kids can pick their own pumpkins. Fun festive extras include tables where children can colour spooky pictures and a spooky maze, while bigger kids will enjoy the Haunted Witches room.
Lough SpooKey Halloween Festival
4. Lough Key Forest and Activity Park, Boyle Co. Roscommon is hosting a number of exciting Halloween activities for children up until November 1st. Costume competitions, a witch and monster nature hunt, pumpkin carving classes and a Halloween party are just some of the options available.
Spooktacular Boo at Dublin Zoo
Dublin Zoo is hosting its annual Spooktacular Boo on Saturday 31st October from 12-4pm. Children can enjoy face painting, spooky storytelling, arts and crafts and special talks about the animals associated with Halloween. And of course kids are encouraged to attend in costume!
5. Ghoulsley Manor
Ghoulsley Manor in Co. Cork is an activity all the family can enjoy together. Tour through Lord Ghoulsley’s eerie and spooky haunted Manor in this immersive and theatrical experience.
