12-year-old girl shares a secret she's been keeping from her entire school for years

A 12-year-old girl in England has ‘come clean’ to her entire school during assembly.

Holly Lewis has autism, and sometimes things can get too much for the youngster.

But when she first began her time in school, Holly did not want fellow students knowing about her condition.

Holly said: “I didn’t want them to judge me.”

However, following a difficult couple of weeks, kids at school continued to ask was Holly OK and if there was something wrong.

So she decided it was time to explain her autism.

Standing in front of 180 people in the school she said: “My name is Holly, and I have autism.”

“Everyone with autism is unique, everyone with autism struggles socially, and you can help me by giving me time to answer questions, including me in your conversations” Holly added.

The developmental disorder can affect communication and relationships, making the things we take for granted, extremely difficult to deal with.

The inspiring young girl shares: “We’re all different; it’s okay to be different.”

Holly also reveals that she feels better after talking to someone about why she is upset, while her friends are happy that they can now understand and possibly help at times.

The young school girl also unveiled the new campaign Make It Stop to assembly, which she features in for the National Autistic Society.
