10 (weird) things I worry about since becoming a mother
Before I had a baby I would worry about normal, everyday things, like how much money was in the bank and if my 20-year-old car would actually start in the morning.
But now? Well, now my worrying has hit extreme levels, and I find myself agonising over weird things that are totally out of my control – like a terrorist takeover on my plane.
It's not just big things like falling out of the sky that get my heart racing though; not getting enough sleep, opting for a chipper over a healthy veggie curry, and whether my daughter has washed her hands properly can keep me up at night.
As well as the following ten other things I worry about constantly…
1. Eating homemade buns from a cake stall
Kids making cakes…? You don't know how clean their hands were…
2. Putting my hand down the side of a chair
I've had one too many pens stick up my finger nails to be stupid enough for that.
3. Catching something from the handle of a public toilet
We are not touching THAT with our bare skin…
4. Being stuck in traffic during a storm
There is NOWHERE to go if things start to get crazy.
5. My daughter falling over and breaking her teeth
That s**it is just too expensive to deal with.
6. Getting in an elevator with a stranger
Hell, they could be a mass-murderer for all we know…
7. The train I'm on de-railing
And I don't even use the train that often.
8. Getting in a taxi on my own
Now this is a reasonable one.
9. People acting strange on aeroplanes
Yeah. I really need to stop watching the news (and CSI).
10. Eating anything gone off
I cannot deal with food poisoning.
