10 food items you should NOT be keeping in the fridge
Most people just assume that putting food in the fridge will make it last longer.
Well, it turns out that this is NOT the case!
There are certain foods out there that will last far longer if stored in a dry place!
Tomatoes
Cold temperatures mess with the texture of a tomato, and makes the tomato mushy.
Garlic
Garlic likes to go off pretty quickly in the fridge, it’ll grow mould and go rubbery-soft when put into the fridge.
Onions
Onions tend to become incredibly mushy or mouldy if left in the fridge for too long.
Avocado
Putting an avocado in the fridge will just completely stop it from ripening, much like the banana, it practically freezes in time.
Honey
Putting honey into the fridge will increase the speed of the sugar crystallisation which turns it into an almost dough-like form.
Strawberries
Keeping berries in the fridge can make them rot much faster due to moisture. They'll be better off in a bowl on the counter.
Bananas
Cold temperatures basically freeze bananas, hindering their ability to ripen.
Potatoes
Cold temperatures will generally break down the starch within potatoes.
Bread
The cold temperature of the fridge promotes the bread to become stale far more quickly.
Coffee
When placed in the fridge, coffee absorbs any smell that’s in your fridge and the whole batch will never go back to it’s original flavour.
